Sunlake High School’s volleyball team defeated Plant High School on Sept. 11, 2026. The victory showcased the team’s competitive spirit and strong camaraderie.
Sophomore Kara Davis acknowledged the team’s initial apprehension. “They have a record for being a really good team, so I knew it was going to be a close game, or we were going to lose,” Davis said. Despite these concerns, Sunlake performed exceptionally well, securing the win and enjoying the match.
Beyond competition, Davis noted volleyball's positive impact on her social life and fitness. “I knew a lot of people on the team, but I was able to become closer with them,” she said. She credited teamwork with building strong connections, a sentiment she has valued throughout her life in competitive sports. Encouragement from coaches also proved crucial. “Our coach was telling us to be smart and swing, and I think that’s the reason we won,” Davis recalled.
