Pasco County – Senior Nathan Merriman played a full varsity football game for the first time in two years Saturday against River Ridge. Merriman, a key player for the local team, returned to action after battling injuries that had sidelined him for extended periods.
"That was my first game back from a two-week break, and that was the first full game I played in the last two years because of my injuries," Merriman said.
He described the team's energy heading into the matchup. "We were ready. The team was ready and we were not about to close out," Merriman stated. Despite the team's preparedness, five turnovers hindered Sunlake's ability to build momentum and capitalize on scoring opportunities.
Merriman aims to continue contributing to the team's offense throughout the remainder of the season with a focus on winning.
