Palm Beach County residents should prepare for several days of heavy rain, beginning this afternoon and continuing through midweek. The National Weather Service forecasts intense rainfall rates that could cause localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas, along the East Coast and in ponding-prone areas like parts of the Glades.
Deep tropical moisture will fuel repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms. Some areas may receive several inches of rain if storms repeatedly track over the same locations.
Today, expect a warm, humid start with increasing cloud cover. Rain chances rise significantly this afternoon, with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms developing. These storms may bring torrential downpours, frequent lightning and gusty winds. The rain chance near West Palm Beach is about 60%.
Wednesday is expected to be one of the wettest days. Numerous showers and thunderstorms are forecast throughout the day, with periods of heavy rainfall likely. This persistent precipitation could flood poorly drained roads and low-lying areas from the Acreage to coastal communities.
The unsettled pattern continues into Thursday, with widespread showers and thunderstorms remaining a strong possibility. Residents may experience multiple rain rounds throughout the day, with rain chances near West Palm Beach around 90%.
Conditions remain active into Friday, though the pattern will begin to ease. Showers and thunderstorms are still likely, particularly in the afternoon, but overall rain coverage is projected to decrease. The weekend offers a gradual return to drier weather. Scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible Saturday, but Sunday should see improved conditions with only isolated rain chances and more dry periods.
