URGENT: Life-Threatening Storm Surge and Winds for Southern Jackson

Southern Jackson is under an immediate Storm Surge Warning from the NWS New Orleans, LA, with life-threatening surge of 4-7 feet and winds up to 110 mph expected Friday morning through Saturday morning. Evacuate if ordered and seek safe shelter immediately.

A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Southern Jackson, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service in New Orleans, LA. Residents in Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, St. Martin, Gautier, and Moss Point face life-threatening conditions.

Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuate immediately if orders are given for your area. Potential impacts include extensive structural damage to buildings, washed-out escape routes, and major damage to marinas.

Wind speeds are forecast to reach 25-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, with a potential for winds of 74 to 110 mph. Remaining efforts to protect life and property must be urgently completed. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive. Expect considerable roof damage, downed trees, impassable roads, and widespread power outages.

Moderate flooding from 3-6 inches of rain is also expected. Heed all flood watches and warnings. Tornadoes are not expected at this time. This warning is effective until 6:15 PM UTC today. For more information, visit msema.org.
