A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Northern Jackson, including Wade, Vancleave, and Escatawpa, by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans LA, effective immediately, October 9, 2026, at 4:12 AM CDT. The warning is set to expire at 12:15 PM CDT.

Residents in affected areas should complete all property protection efforts as soon as possible and move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin. Peak winds of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected. Potential impacts include damage to unanchored mobile homes, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions are expected on bridges and elevated roadways.

Moderate flooding from heavy rainfall, around 1 inch, is also anticipated. Emergency plans should account for potential evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings. Driving conditions will become hazardous in low-lying and poor drainage areas, with some road closures possible.

The NWS New Orleans LA indicates that tornadoes are not expected. For additional information, visit https://www.msema.org.
