A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Coastal Jefferson County, effective immediately from the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee, FL. This warning, issued October 8 at 5:22 PM EDT, indicates an Extreme threat with life-threatening storm surge possible, along with significant flooding rain and tornado potential.

Residents in Coastal Jefferson County should prepare for 4-6 feet of storm surge inundation above ground, particularly from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations must be completed soon. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately.

An additional 6-10 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, is forecasted, posing a major flooding risk. Protective actions are strongly advised for those in flood-vulnerable areas. A Flood Watch is in effect. Conditions are also favorable for several tornadoes; be ready to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued. Winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force, with gusts up to 35 mph.
