Beach Hazards & Coastal Flood Advisory for Malibu, LA County Beaches
A Beach Hazards Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory are in effect for the Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon, warning of dangerous rip currents, elevated surf, and minor to moderate coastal flooding.
Residents and visitors to the Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches are advised to take immediate precautions due to a Beach Hazards Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA.
The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 2 PM PDT Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The Beach Hazards Statement is in effect from Monday, October 12, 2026 at 8:40 PM PDT through Tuesday afternoon, October 13, 2026. Dangerous rip currents and elevated surf are expected. Minor to moderate coastal flooding is anticipated near times of high tide, with high tides expected to peak around 7.1 to 7.3 feet on Tuesday morning.
Property owners in flood-prone areas should take necessary actions to protect their property. Do NOT drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. For beachgoers, remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in these conditions; stay off the rocks. Enhanced beach erosion is possible, and there is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea, and waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore.
