Residents in the Antelope Valley and surrounding mountainous and foothill areas should secure outdoor objects and exercise caution due to a Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA.
The advisory is in effect from October 11 at 11:07 AM PDT until October 12 at 5:00 AM PDT. Southwest winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected. Local gusts could reach 60 mph in mountainous and foothill areas.
Affected areas include the Interstate 5 Corridor, Western San Gabriel Mountains and Highway 14 Corridor, Eastern San Gabriel Mountains, Western Antelope Valley Foothills, Eastern Antelope Valley Foothills, and the Antelope Valley.
Impacts may include downed tree limbs and potential power outages, especially in areas that have received recent rainfall. Unsecured outdoor objects could be blown around. Driving will be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.
The National Weather Service advises residents to secure outdoor objects and avoid parking vehicles under trees. Drivers should use extra caution.
