Coastal Levy residents, particularly those in Cedar Key, Yankeetown, and Fowler Bluff, are under a Storm Surge Watch issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tampa Bay Ruskin FL. This watch is in effect from October 8 at 10:57 PM EDT and expires October 9 at 7:00 AM UTC.

Life-threatening storm surge inundation of 2-4 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Residents in surge-prone areas should plan for significant flooding. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations must be completed before conditions become unsafe. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services.

Potential impacts include damage to buildings, weakened or washed-out near-shore escape routes, major beach erosion, and damage to marinas and docks. Moderate flooding from heavy rain is also anticipated, with an additional 1 to 3 inches possible, potentially causing localized flooding and quick rises in rivers and tributaries. Heed any flood watches and warnings.

Winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force, with gusts up to 20 mph. Tornadoes are not expected at this time. Stay informed of the latest forecasts from the NWS at https://www.weather.gov/tbw.
