Robert “Bob” E. Fix, a Lake Worth Beach resident and former commercial airline pilot, died Sept. 23. The article previously stated he was 84 and listed a death date of Sept. 23, 2026, which could not be verified.
Fix built a varied career, starting as a pharmacist before serving in the U.S. Army. He later transitioned to aviation, flying for Braniff Airways and serving as chief pilot for Carnival Airlines. His family said the Miami Heat requested him to fly the team, a claim that could not be verified.
Born in the Reading, Pennsylvania, area, Fix graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science. He also worked as a flight instructor, mentoring pilots who later joined the airline industry.
Fix inspired his family with his passion for aviation, leading his wife, daughter and stepson to pursue careers in the field. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, relaxing with a beer overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway and reading aviation magazines.
He is survived by his wife, Judith L. Fix; daughter Erika Adrean; stepdaughters Bonnie Glasford and Robert Aeschbacher; sister Suzanne Hussar and her husband, Daniel; grandchildren Brandon Glasford, Tyler Aeschbacher and Kristina Aeschbacher Wilson; great-granddaughter Lillian Wilson; and nephews Eric Hussar, Christopher Hussar and Timothy Hussar.
The family requests donations to local animal shelters in lieu of flowers. Services will be private. A public memorial service will be announced at a later date.
