Palm Beach County Fire Rescue: Class #1 ALL HAZARDS Department
PALM BEACH COUNTY FIRE RESCUE! Palm Beach County Fire Rescue is a Class #1 ALL HAZARDS Fire & Rescue Department and one of the largest in the State of Florida. Our Firefighter/Paramedics respond to just about every emergency you can imagine - fire, medical, car accidents, hazardous materials or conditions, plane crashes, aircraft emergencies, chemical spills, fuel spills, fire and arson investigations, water rescues, technical rescues, animal rescues, hurricane preparation, and response, and more! Quick Statistics on PBCFR: * 156,526 911 calls for help each year * 51 fire stations, including Palm Beach International Airport * Covering nearly 1800 square miles * 2057 employees ISO Class 1 Department During FY 2022, the Insurance Services Office (ISO), Public Protection Classification, completed its analysis of the structural fire suppression delivery system of PBCFR. The rigorous process has resulted in PBCFR proudly joining the nation's elite group of fire rescue departments with its new Class 1 PPC rating. Residents and businesses within the unincorporated areas and municipalities served by PBCFR can enjoy more safety and peace of mind knowing they have the best fire and life safety protection available. Class 1 rated areas typically offer lower insurance premiums for residents and businesses. The ISO rates fire departments from 1-10 based on their ability to “respond to and prevent fires” with 1 being the best rating. The Class 1 rating applies to properties located within five road miles of a fire station. Strategic Planning
2025 Ormond Beach Strategic Plan The City began formally adopting a strategic plan in 2015 and has continued to regularly update its goals and priorities through City Commission workshops and progress reports. This process supports good governance and is vital in providing for the efficient use of staff and financial resources. In 2025, the City of Ormond Beach engaged Strategic Government Resources (SGR) to assist the City Commission in updating its Strategic Plan. SGR facilitated a two-day goal-setting workshop on March 12 and March 13, with a follow-up workshop on May 6, 2025, to review and finalize the City Commission's goals and priorities for the remainder of this election term. As part of this process, the City Commission revised the City's vision statement, mission statement, and organizational values and reaffirmed the following strategic pillars established in the City's 2019 Strategic Plan: Transportation & Community Development Economic Development Governance Public Safety Quality of Life Water Quality and Environment The 2025 Strategic Plan identifies the goals and priorities agreed upon for each strategic pillar and will be utilized to help guide the City's efforts and resources for the betterment of our community. Progress reports will be published regularly to measure intended outcomes and results.

A "cross connection" is a connection in a plumbing installation through which water and possible contaminants may enter or come into contact with a drinkable water supply. This can be prevented with backflow protection. Municipalities and other communities set up cross connection control programs that monitor the installation, maintenance and field testing of backflow preventers in accordance with local bylaws and other codes and standards. The City of Panama City is required to implement a Cross Connection Control Program per FDEP Rule 62-555-360-1. View the Cross Connection Control Program Plan in this link. Backflow is the reversal of flow of any substance into the safe drinking water distribution system. Backflow Prevention devices protect the City’s potable (safe for drinking) water supply line from contaminants that may get passed back over the meter from the customer's side. Backpressure (pushing) or backsiphonage (sucking forces) can cause fertilizers, microorganisms, chemicals, strongyloides, and other substances that are hazardous to human health to backflow into the safe drinking water distribution system and make people sick. Per FDEP Rule 62-555-360-1, the City is required to have a Cross-connection Control Program in place to keep the drinking water safe. Who Is Required to Have a Backflow Device? Backflow Prevention devices are required for most commercial business and every residential and commercial irrigation account. Depending on your hazard level, properties will be required to use a Reduced Pressure (RP) or a Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB). Permit a backflow preventer installation in three easy steps: 1. Choose which device you will need to install. Property owners who have questions regarding which device is best for their property can review their State hazard level and view the Cross-Connection Control Program for more information or contact a licensed plumber. Things to Consider: Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB)A PVB device may be a good choice if your lawn is not on a slope and you do not have any sprinkler risers or sill cocks that rise above grade. This device is height dependent and must be installed 12” above your highest downstream piping. Reduced Pressure (RP)An RP device provides the highest level of protection, only needs to be installed 12” above grade, and will work with any irrigation set up. 2. Purchase the backflow prevention assembly that best fits the needs of your property and connection type 3. Pull a permit by visiting City Hall in Room 217 or by going online to us.cloudpermit.com. The cost of the permit is $44.00. Please note: The city does not issue same day permits. All permit applications will need to be reviewed by multiple departments for approval. Campaign Signs & Advertising The following information is an overview of the regulations governing political signage.A permit is not required for campaign signs in Ormond Beach. Political signs are treated as temporary non-commercial signs in the City’s Land Development Code. The City does not answer legal questions regarding HOA rights and responsibilities. The City does not regulate the leaving of non-commercial campaign literature on private property due to 1st amendment rights. If a property owner does not want solicitations of any kind, they need to post a “no trespassing” sign on the property. If people continue after warning, it can be considered a trespass. Political signs may not be placed on or over any public property or public right-of-way. Any sign placed on any public property or public right-of-way shall be subject to immediate removal. In all other cases, the City shall provide notice of such violation to the campaign as applicable. Campaign Advertising Packet Sign Removal All political signs which relate to the election of a candidate or to an issue decided at a referendum, must be removed by the permittee no later than 7 days following the election at which the candidate was duly elected to office or defeated.

Explorers Application Process Requirements To become a Fire Explorer with the Apopka Fire Department, you must: Be between the ages of 14 and 20 Be in High School or show proof of graduation Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or greater Have no medical / physical restrictions Have an interest in firefighting as a career Anyone can apply to the program however preference is given to residents of Apopka. How to Apply If interested, please complete an application and turn it in along with the following: Most recent report card or diploma Most recent physical (within the last year) Applications Applications can be downloaded or picked up and submitted to the Fire Administration Office. Fernandina Beach Fire Department CPR/AED/First Aid Training Whether you're looking for an hour-long general knowledge CPR class, or full ACLS certification, our experienced instructors have been there before. Their patience, knowledge, & expertise, paired with our top of the line compression-feedback manikins, will ensure that you leave class feeling confident & capable to perform your new skill. CPR Classes can be taught at the Peck Center Auditorium (516 S. 10th St.), Fire Station 1 (225 S 14th St.), or at a location of your choosing, within reason. We provide one CPR instructor for every six students. - CPR/AED: $60.00 per person (3-4 hours) - First Aid: $60.00 per person (3-4 hours) - CPR/AED/First Aid: $110.00 per person (6-8 hours) - BLS: $60.00 per person (4 hours) If you are called on to give CPR in an emergency, you will most likely be trying to save the life of someone you love: a child, spouse, parent, or friend. Security Alarms
Please note that security alarms in the City of Winter Haven do not need to be registered with the Police Department. Ordinance O-08-27 - Alarm Control A false alarm occurs when the alarm system is activated and the Police Department responds, but there is no evidence of criminal activity (or the reasonable threat of criminal activity), unauthorized entry, or any other emergency that would require the services of the Police Department. This includes activation through an accident, negligence, mechanical failure, electrical failure, signals activated intentionally in non-emergency situations, and any unknown means of activation. An alarm is considered false if responding Police Department personnel follow normal operating procedures and find no evidence of an unauthorized entry, criminal activity (or reasonable threat of), or other emergency. Each false alarm is a separate violation of the ordinance and shall be fined as follows: No charge for a response to the first false alarm in a calendar month hereafter referred to as “first response.” A $27.13 charge for a response to all other false alarms each calendar month. Fire Marshal Our Responsibilities The Fire Prevention Section of the Fernandina Beach Fire Department is responsible for a number of activities mandated by Florida Law or Administrative Code. The Prevention Section staff performs both plans review and field inspections to determine fire code compliance for all construction activities involving both new and existing structures in the City. The Fire Prevention Section also performs either scheduled or periodic fire safety inspections of all buildings in the City as required by Chapter 633 Florida Statutes, to enforce the applicable provisions of the Florida Fire Prevention Code. Additionally, we perform a number of related functions, including identifying and mapping all fire hydrants in the City, and reviewing development applications to determine that Fire Code and Land Development Code requirements are met.
