Five years after De'Joshua Johnson died from gunshot wounds sustained in a Pahokee block party, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and his family are renewing their public plea for information.

Deputies responded to a large block party near S. Lake Avenue and Daniel Place in Pahokee around 10:05 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021. As deputies attempted to disperse the crowd, gunshots erupted. Three individuals suffered gunshot wounds: two men and one woman. Authorities transported the victims to a local hospital. One sustained non-life-threatening injuries, another was in serious condition, and Johnson, then 31, was in critical condition.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division investigated the shooting. Johnson died from his injuries on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reclassified the case as a homicide.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Crime Stoppers. The family seeks closure and justice for Johnson. A reward is offered for information leading to an arrest.
