Residents of the Upper Hood River Valley should take immediate steps to protect sensitive outdoor plants as a Freeze Warning has been issued. Sub-freezing temperatures, as low as 28 to 32 degrees Fahrenheit, are expected.

The Freeze Warning is effective from midnight tonight, October 12, until 8 AM PDT on Tuesday, October 13. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland, OR, issued this warning at 10:05 AM PDT today. The affected area is specifically the Upper Hood River Valley, with the coldest temperatures anticipated near Parkdale.

These conditions could result in the death of crops and other sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be damaged. The NWS advises taking action now to shield tender outdoor plants from the cold. Residents should consider temporarily moving outdoor potted plants indoors if they are susceptible to cold temperatures.
