Freeze Warning for Upper Hood River Valley: Protect Plants Tonight
A Freeze Warning is in effect for the Upper Hood River Valley until Monday, October 12, at 8:00 AM PDT, with temperatures as low as 28-32 degrees expected; protect sensitive outdoor plants now.
Residents in the Upper Hood River Valley should take immediate steps to protect sensitive outdoor plants as a Freeze Warning is now in effect. The National Weather Service (NWS) Portland has issued this warning until Monday, October 12, at 8:00 AM PDT.
Sub-freezing temperatures are expected, dropping as low as 28 to 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The coldest temperatures are anticipated near Parkdale. These conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation, and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
To mitigate impact, temporarily move outdoor potted plants indoors if they are sensitive to cold. For plants that cannot be moved, consider covering them with a lightweight cotton fabric, such as bedsheets or thin blankets. This will help retain heat and provide crucial frost protection.
