Hollywood Tests Storm Panels for Tidal Flood Protection

Hollywood began testing removable storm panels Thursday, September 24, 2026, along South South Lake Drive to combat tidal flooding. The panels are installed on a stretch of road connecting neighborhoods near Hollywood Lakes and the Intracoastal Waterway.

City staff, along with representatives from project designer Cummins Cederberg and contractor The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, will inspect the system's performance. This testing phase runs through the King Tides, from September 24 to October 1, 2026.

The testing is part of the Hollywood Tidal Flooding Mitigation Project. The data collected will help evaluate the system's effectiveness and prepare city staff for future operation of flood gates.
