Tropical Storm Warning for Southern Harrison: Act Now to Prepare

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Southern Harrison, effective immediately, October 9, 2026, at 10:02 AM CDT, by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans LA. This warning impacts Gulfport, Biloxi, Pass Christian, and Long Beach, and is set to expire at 6:15 PM UTC today.

Residents should prepare for hazardous winds of 25-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Efforts to protect property, including securing lightweight objects, should be underway now. Act to complete all preparations before winds become hazardous. Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes is possible, along with broken tree limbs and scattered power outages.

A life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and any ordered evacuations should be complete. Evacuees should be in safe shelters well away from potential storm surge flooding. Remain sheltered in a safe location; do not venture outside. Potential impacts are currently unfolding.

Localized flooding from heavy rain is possible. Heed any flood watches and warnings. Little to no tornado activity is expected.
