ECS Baseball Coach Derrik Lutz Wins FACA State Award
Evangelical Christian School baseball coach Derrik Lutz won the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Coach of the Year award, while two-way player Jackson Perkins earned Player of the Year honors after the Sentinels finished 23-3 and ranked among Florida's top five 1A programs.
Perkins pitched to a 2.29 ERA while also playing third base and outfield. Lutz built the program around elite pitching and disciplined hitting. The Sentinels' batting lineup regularly posted averages above .300, with several players hitting over .400. The pitching staff featured multiple arms with sub-1.00 ERAs.
The FACA awards recognize coaches and players across all Florida high school athletic classifications. Both honors mark the highest individual achievements in ECS baseball history.
