UF Free Dual-Enrollment Courses for Lee County High School

The School District of Lee County and the University of Florida launched a dual-enrollment program allowing qualified high school juniors and seniors to take free undergraduate courses taught by UF faculty. Sixty-eight students registered for the inaugural semester beginning in August.
The partnership covers all 15 Lee County high schools and marks the only such direct UF opportunity in Southwest Florida. Students choose from fully online courses, and credits fulfill UF requirements and transfer to other public and private universities nationwide.
Applicants must maintain a 3.6 cumulative unweighted GPA and meet competitive standardized test thresholds on the SAT, ACT, or CLT.
Dr. Nathan Shaker, Chief Academic Officer for Lee County schools, said the agreement "provides diverse, rigorous, and competitive pathways that prepare our students for global success."
The program expands existing dual-enrollment options Lee County students access through Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida SouthWestern State College, and Barry University.
