Residents in Southeastern Interior Humboldt and Southern Trinity counties are advised to monitor weather conditions closely as a Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service Eureka CA.

Strong thunderstorms, identified by Doppler radar at 5:36 PM PDT, are tracking from 9 miles northwest of Alderpoint to 9 miles north of Dinsmore, or from 15 miles northeast of Garberville to 18 miles south of Willow Creek. These storms are moving west at 10 mph and are expected to produce pea-sized hail. This statement is effective until 6:15 PM PDT tonight, September 16, 2026.

Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible due to the hail. Locations impacted include Dinsmore, Bridgeville, Blocksburg, and areas along HWY 36.

The National Weather Service urges everyone outdoors to seek shelter inside a building immediately. Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning is occurring with these storms, and lightning can strike up to 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Stay informed by monitoring local radio and television stations for potential updates and warnings from the National Weather Service.
