BALDWIN CENTRAL – An Extreme Storm Surge Warning is in immediate effect for Baldwin Central, issued by NWS Mobile AL on October 9 at 6:53 AM CDT. This warning impacts Daphne, Fairhope, and Foley. Residents are urged to complete all preparations and move to safe shelter immediately.

Life-threatening wind of Category 1 or 2 hurricane force is expected, with peak gusts to 70 mph and potential for 74-110 mph. Considerable wind damage is anticipated, including to sturdy buildings and mobile homes, with widespread power and communication outages. Remain sheltered as winds become hazardous.

Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete; evacuees must be in shelters well away from surge flooding. Remain sheltered in a safe location.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain expected, leading to major flooding. Many evacuations and rescues are likely, and rivers may overflow. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The tornado threat has decreased but a few tornadoes are still possible. If a tornado warning is issued, shelter quickly. This alert expires October 9 at 3:00 PM UTC.
