High Surf Warning for Mobile & Baldwin Coasts Until Noon Today
A High Surf Warning is in effect for Mobile and Baldwin Coastal Counties until 12:00 PM CDT today, with dangerous waves and rip currents expected, prompting officials to advise staying out of the water and off coastal structures.
Residents and visitors in Mobile Coastal and Baldwin Coastal Counties are advised to remain out of the water due to a High Surf Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL. This warning is effective immediately, October 10, until 12:00 PM CDT today, October 10.
Dangerously large breaking waves of 4 to 7 feet are expected in the surf zone. The NWS also warns of a High Rip Current Risk extending through Sunday afternoon, posing life-threatening conditions.
Impacts include the potential for breaking waves to sweep individuals off jetties and docks, leading to hazardous seas. Life-threatening swimming conditions and significant beach erosion are anticipated. Rip currents are strong enough to carry even experienced swimmers away from shore into deeper waters.
The NWS advises everyone to remain out of the water. Additionally, individuals should stay off jetties, piers, and other waterside infrastructure during this period. The warning was issued at 4:45 AM CDT.
