A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Crenshaw County, including Brantley and Luverne, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile, AL, effective immediately as of October 8 at 6:56 AM CDT. This warning indicates that tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours, and residents must act now to complete preparations.

Dangerous winds of 25-35 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph, are possible. Potential impacts include significant damage to roofing, siding, and outbuildings, as well as several large trees snapped or uprooted. Roads may become impassable due to debris, and scattered power and communication outages are expected. Efforts to protect life and property should be underway.

Moderate flooding rain is also anticipated, with peak rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches, and locally higher amounts. Rivers and tributaries may swell, causing localized flooding, and floodwaters could enter some structures. Residents in flood-vulnerable areas should consider protective actions and heed all flood watches and warnings.

The NWS also reports that conditions are favorable for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should prepare to relocate to safe shelter. This warning is set to expire on October 8 at 3:00 PM UTC.
