A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Muscogee County, including Columbus, effective immediately until October 10 at 7:30 AM UTC. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, GA, warns residents to complete all preparations now.

Strong winds are expected, with peak gusts up to 45 mph, posing a limited threat of damage to property and potential for downed tree limbs and power outages. Efforts to protect property should be complete. Residents should act now to secure any loose outdoor items.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 2-3 inches of rain anticipated, potentially leading to moderate flooding. Emergency plans should account for possible evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

A few tornadoes are possible. If your shelter is vulnerable, prepare to relocate. Be ready to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued. For more information on family emergency plans, visit ready.gov/hurricanes or weather.gov/atlanta for local forecasts.
