Single Mother Wins Habitat Home in Clearwater
Staff Writer
May 30, 2026
Monica Yun will soon move into her first home through Habitat for Humanity, a milestone that will anchor her and her 15-year-old son, Alvin, in Clearwater.
Yun works two jobs—as a waitress at Thai Star Sushi Bar and a licensed nail technician—to support her family. Alvin, a high school student on track to graduate early, spends his free time fishing for sheepshead and trout. He plans to start a fishing charter business.
"I was filled with so much joy and relief," Yun said upon learning of her acceptance into the Habitat program. The home provides stability without the burden of rising rent.
