Clearwater Mother, Son Get New Habitat for Humanity Home
Abby Kistler and her 17-year-old son Carter will move into a new Habitat for Humanity home in Clearwater, marking a shift toward financial stability after years of unstable housing.
Kistler works as a Child Welfare Case Manager at Youth & Family Advocates, a position she has held for nine years. She holds a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from the University of South Florida. Outside work, she volunteers in cat rescue.
Carter plays high school baseball and enjoys pickleball. The family spends time exploring new restaurants and ethnic markets together.
For years, rent consumed most of Kistler's income, forcing her family to share homes with relatives in cramped conditions. "There were times when I felt a lack of pride in our living spaces," Kistler said.
Kistler learned of her acceptance into the Habitat program and said the home will provide security and allow her to build generational wealth. "We deserve a place to create lasting memories with family and friends," she said.
