A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for San Diego County Coastal Areas, including Oceanside, Carlsbad, Chula Vista, and San Diego. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA issued the alert tonight, October 9, at 8:23 PM PDT, effective immediately and expiring tomorrow, October 10, at 4:30 AM PDT. Residents are urged to prepare for hazardous wind, potential significant coastal flooding, and extensive flooding rain.

Strong winds are anticipated, with a peak forecast of 10-20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. However, there is a potential for winds between 39 to 57 mph. Property protection efforts should be underway now to mitigate limited wind damage. Complete all preparations before winds become hazardous.

Significant coastal flooding and beach erosion are possible due to tides over 7 feet, high surf, and increased onshore winds. Avoid beaches and take necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Dangerous swimming conditions and strong rip currents are expected. Follow instructions from local officials and monitor forecasts.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with around 1 inch of rain forecasted, leading to potential major flooding.
