Dust Advisory Issued for Maricopa and Pinal Counties Until 2:45 PM MST
A Dust Advisory is in effect for Maricopa and Pinal Counties until 2:45 PM MST, with a wall of dust causing hazardous driving conditions and reduced visibility.
A Dust Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Phoenix for Maricopa and Pinal Counties, effective immediately until 2:45 PM MST today, October 10.
A wall of dust was reported at 1:43 PM MST along a line from Sun Lakes to 12 miles southwest of Casa Grande, moving east at 15 mph. This dust event is expected to bring less than one mile visibility and strong winds exceeding 30 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions.
Areas impacted include Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Casa Grande, Coolidge, Sun Lakes, Queen Creek, Arizona City, and others. Several major highways are also affected, including portions of AZ Route 87, AZ Interstate 8, AZ Route 202, AZ Route 101, AZ Route 287, AZ Interstate 10, and AZ Route 347.
If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights, and keep your foot off the brake. Hazardous dust conditions can be reported to the National Weather Service or your nearest law enforcement agency.
