Residents across a wide portion of south-central Arizona should prepare for a Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Phoenix. The advisory is in effect today, October 11, from 8 AM MST until 5 PM MST.
South winds are expected to reach sustained speeds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. This includes the Aguila Valley, Northwest Valley, Tonopah Desert, Gila Bend, Buckeye/Avondale, Cave Creek/New River, Deer Valley, Central Phoenix, North Phoenix/Glendale, New River Mesa, Scottsdale/Paradise Valley, Rio Verde/Salt River, East Valley, Fountain Hills/East Mesa, South Mountain/Ahwatukee, Southeast Valley/Queen Creek, Superior, Northwest Pinal County, West Pinal County, Apache Junction/Gold Canyon, Tonto Basin, Mazatzal Mountains, Pinal/Superstition Mountains, Sonoran Desert National Monument, San Carlos, Dripping Springs, Globe/Miami, and Southeast Gila County.
Driving conditions are anticipated to be difficult, especially for larger vehicles or those with high profiles, due to crosswinds. Light, unsecured objects may become airborne.
