SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING: Pima, Pinal until 7:45 PM MST

Pima and Pinal Counties, AZ – A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tucson AZ, effective immediately until 7:45 PM MST tonight, October 10.

Residents in affected areas are urged to seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. These storms are capable of producing damaging winds. Wind damage with these storms will occur before any rain or lightning; do not wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover. Seek shelter immediately inside a sturdy structure.

At 7:10 PM MST, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from near Avra Valley to near Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, moving northeast at 35 mph. The primary hazards are 60 mph wind gusts and small hail, as indicated by radar. Impacts include potential damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include Tucson, Catalina, Oro Valley, Marana, Oracle, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Casas Adobes, Drexel Heights, Flowing Wells, Tanque Verde, Saddlebrooke, South Tucson, Avra Valley, Saddlebrooke Ranch, Tortolita, Mount Lemmon/Summerhaven, Catalina State Park, Saguaro National Park West and Catalina Foothills.

This warning also affects travelers on Interstate 19 (mile markers 59-63), Route 79 (mile markers 92-106), Route 86 (mile markers 166-171), Route 77 (mile markers 70-99), and Interstate 10 (mile markers 217-276).
