Residents in Eastern Curry County, Josephine County, and Jackson County must take immediate action to protect sensitive vegetation from impending frost and freezing temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Medford has issued a Freeze Warning effective until Monday, October 12, at 9:00 AM PDT.

A Frost Advisory is in effect from 2:00 AM to 8:00 AM PDT on Sunday, October 11, with temperatures as low as 33 degrees Fahrenheit expected. This will be followed by a Freeze Warning from 2:00 AM to 9:00 AM PDT on Monday, October 12, when sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit are anticipated.

The affected areas include the Rogue, Illinois, and Applegate valleys of Josephine and Jackson Counties. Locations such as Cave Junction and Provolt within the Applegate and Illinois valleys could experience even colder temperatures. These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive plants.

The NWS advises residents to take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. For further updates and information, refer to the National Weather Service Medford.
