Residents in Eastern Curry County, Josephine County, and Jackson County should take immediate steps to protect tender plants from cold temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) Medford has issued a Freeze Watch effective from late Sunday night, October 11, through Monday morning, October 12, 2026. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 27 degrees Fahrenheit are possible during this period.

Additionally, a Frost Advisory is in effect for the valleys of Josephine and Jackson Counties from 2 AM to 8 AM PDT on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Temperatures as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit are expected, leading to frost formation. Areas such as Ashland and typically colder spots of the Illinois Valley, including Cave Junction and O'Brien, may see temperatures drop to the lower 30s during the Frost Advisory.

The NWS warns that both frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Residents are advised to take protective measures for susceptible plants now.
