Residents in Eastern Curry County, Josephine County, and Jackson County are advised to take immediate action to protect sensitive plants from freezing temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) Medford OR has issued a Freeze Warning effective from 2 AM to 9 AM PDT on Monday, October 12.

A Frost Advisory is also in effect until 8 AM PDT today, October 11, with temperatures as low as 33 degrees expected to cause frost formation. The Freeze Warning on Monday anticipates sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees.

Affected areas include the Rogue, Illinois, and Applegate valleys of Josephine and Jackson Counties. The NWS notes that portions of the Applegate and Illinois valleys, specifically at Cave Junction and Provolt, could experience several degrees colder temperatures than the larger valleys.

The NWS warns that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Residents should take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
