A Wind Advisory has been issued for Death Valley National Park, Esmeralda and Central Nye County, and Western Clark and Southern Nye County, warning of south winds up to 55 mph through Monday morning; residents should secure outdoor objects and drive with caution.
Residents and travelers in Death Valley National Park, Esmeralda and Central Nye County, and Western Clark and Southern Nye County should prepare for strong winds. The National Weather Service (NWS) Las Vegas has issued a Wind Advisory, effective immediately until 5:00 AM PDT on Monday, October 12.
South winds are expected to reach sustained speeds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 45 to 55 mph. These conditions can make driving hazardous, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The NWS advises using extra caution on roadways.
Impacts from these strong winds include unsecured outdoor objects being blown around. There is also a possibility of tree limbs being downed, which could lead to isolated power outages.
To ensure safety, the NWS instructs everyone in the affected areas to secure any outdoor objects that could be moved by the wind.
