Wind Advisory Issued: Prepare for Gusts Up To 55 MPH Until Monday Morning
A Wind Advisory is in effect for Death Valley National Park and parts of Nye and Clark Counties until Monday 5:00 AM PDT, with gusts up to 55 mph expected. Secure outdoor objects and exercise caution while driving.
Residents and travelers in Death Valley National Park, Esmeralda and Central Nye County, and Western Clark and Southern Nye County should prepare for a Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Las Vegas. The advisory is effective immediately, October 11 at 12:18 AM PDT, and will remain in effect until Monday, October 12 at 5:00 AM PDT.
South winds are expected to reach sustained speeds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts potentially reaching 45 to 55 miles per hour. These strong winds can make driving challenging, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The NWS advises using extra caution on roadways during this period.
The advisory also warns that gusty winds could blow around unsecured outdoor objects. Tree limbs may be blown down, and isolated power outages are possible. Residents are urged to secure any loose items outside their homes or businesses to prevent damage or injury.
