NEW ORLEANS, LA – October 9, 2026 – The National Weather Service (NWS) in New Orleans, LA, has canceled all hurricane and tropical storm watches and warnings for Southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi as Hurricane Isaias moves inland into south-central Alabama.

As of 10:15 PM CDT on Friday, October 9, Isaias was located approximately 230 miles east-northeast of New Orleans, LA, moving north at 20 mph with maximum sustained winds of 90 mph. Winds are decreasing across the region. A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for the Mississippi Gulf Coast through the next tide cycle early Saturday morning, with minor coastal flooding up to 3 feet possible in affected areas including Northern Hancock, Northern Harrison, Northern Jackson, Southern Hancock, Southern Harrison, and Southern Jackson counties.

No additional impacts from wind, storm surge, flooding rain, or tornadoes are anticipated at this time across Southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi. Residents in Lower St. Bernard, Southeast St. Tammany, Eastern Orleans, and Lower Plaquemines parishes should continue to follow guidance from local officials regarding any lingering conditions.

The NWS advises checking on neighbors, avoiding sightseeing in impacted communities, and exercising caution when inspecting damage. Use flashlights instead of candles, and do not go on roofs until conditions are safe. For those clearing fallen trees, use protective gear, and if using a generator, operate it in a well-ventilated outdoor space to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

This is the final local statement from the NWS New Orleans regarding Hurricane Isaias.
