A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Lower Plaquemines, effective immediately from the National Weather Service in New Orleans, LA, as of October 9 at 10:02 AM CDT. This warning impacts Port Sulphur, Empire, and Venice. The warning is set to expire at 6:15 PM UTC today.

Residents in affected areas are urged to move to safe shelter immediately as hazardous winds are expected. Peak wind gusts could reach 65 mph, with sustained winds between 25-35 mph. Damage to awnings, carports, and unanchored mobile homes is possible, along with downed tree limbs and scattered power outages. Remaining efforts to protect property should be completed as soon as possible.

A life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete. Evacuees should be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Remain sheltered in a safe location and do not venture outside.
