The NWS advises immediate action to shelter from life-threatening conditions.
Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning, with potential for flooding greater than 6 feet above ground. All ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in shelters well away from storm surge. If you are in an affected area, remain sheltered in a safe location. Do not venture outside. If necessary, move to upper floors to escape rising water.
Tropical Storm force winds of 35-45 mph with gusts to 70 mph are expected from early this afternoon until early Saturday morning. There is a potential for wind equivalent to a Category 1 or 2 hurricane (74-110 mph). Last-minute efforts should focus solely on protecting life. Seek shelter from life-threatening wind now.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain expected, leading to a potential for major flooding. Heed all flood watches and warnings; evacuations and rescues are likely. Additionally, conditions are favorable for several tornadoes. Stay informed of the latest tornado situation and move quickly to the safest place within your shelter if a tornado warning is issued.
