Extreme Storm Surge Warning for Coastal Bay
Coastal Bay faces an immediate, extreme Storm Surge Warning with life-threatening flooding, dangerous winds, heavy rain, and tornado potential; evacuate if ordered and complete preparations now.
Coastal Bay residents face an immediate, extreme Storm Surge Warning issued by NWS Tallahassee FL, effective today, October 8, 2026, at 11:06 AM EDT, and expiring at 7:15 PM UTC. This warning affects Panama City, Panama City Beach, Mexico Beach, Lynn Haven, and Bayou George.
Evacuate immediately if orders are given for your area, as life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground, potentially exceeding 6 feet, is forecast from Friday morning until Saturday morning. This will result in extensive flooding, structural damage, and impassable roads. Plan for dangerous winds of 30-40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph, with a potential for 58-73 mph, causing significant damage to property and widespread power outages. Complete all preparations to protect life and property now and move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain expected, leading to major flooding and potential evacuations. Additionally, conditions are favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be prepared to shelter quickly.
