Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Inland Bay: Dangerous Winds & Flooding Expected
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Inland Bay, including Youngstown and Fountain, from 11:06 AM EDT today, with dangerous winds, major flooding, and potential tornadoes expected.
Residents in Inland Bay, specifically Youngstown and Fountain, must immediately finalize preparations as a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued by NWS Tallahassee FL, effective today, October 8, 2026, at 11:06 AM EDT, expiring at 7:15 PM UTC.
Dangerous winds are anticipated, with peak forecasts of 25-35 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. There is potential for winds reaching 58 to 73 mph, which could cause significant damage to roofs, siding, and mobile homes, and snap or uproot large trees. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive. Unsecured lightweight objects will become dangerous projectiles.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. This rainfall could lead to major flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers, streams, and ditches may overflow, making many roads impassable. Heed all flood watches and warnings.
The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter now. Listen for tornado watches and warnings, and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued.
No storm surge inundation is forecast, but rough surf and life-threatening rip currents are possible. For more information, visit NWS Tallahassee, Florida Division of Emergency Management, or Bay County Emergency Management.
