Residents in the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued, effective until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures in the 90s and overnight lows remaining warm, ranging from the upper 60s to mid 70s.
The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA issued this warning today, October 7, at 11:47 AM PDT. Heat-related illnesses are a significant risk during these conditions.
To protect yourself and others, the NWS recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, and avoiding direct sun exposure. Check on relatives and neighbors, especially those vulnerable to heat. It is critical never to leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as interior temperatures can become lethal very quickly.
