Beach Hazards & Coastal Flood Alert Issued for San Diego, Orange Coasts

A Beach Hazards Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory have been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego for San Diego and Orange County Coastal Areas, effective immediately.
The Beach Hazards Statement is in effect until Friday evening, October 9, 2026, warning of 3 to 6-foot surf and dangerous rip currents. Residents and visitors are advised to remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions during this period.
The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 2 PM PDT on Tuesday, October 8, 2026. Minor coastal flooding is expected around high tides, with peak tides anticipated to reach between 6.5 and 7.0 feet during morning and evening hours. This could impact beach parking lots, boardwalks, and roads, with isolated road closures possible. Minor coastal erosion is also expected.
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
