Beach Hazards: Rip Currents, Coastal Flooding Expected Through Friday
A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect for San Diego and Orange County coastal areas from Tuesday afternoon through Friday evening, warning of dangerous rip currents and minor coastal flooding; residents are urged to stay out of the water.
San Diego and Orange County coastal residents and visitors are advised to remain out of the water due to a Beach Hazards Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA. This statement, effective from Tuesday afternoon, October 5th, through Friday evening, October 9th, warns of dangerous rip currents and minor coastal flooding.
The affected areas include all San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County Coastal areas. Elevated surf of 3-6 feet, with occasional sets reaching 7 feet, is expected on south and southwest-facing beaches. High tides are anticipated to peak between 6.5 and 7.0 feet during the mornings and evenings.
These conditions could lead to minor coastal flooding and minor coastal erosion, most likely during the evening high tides. The NWS strongly advises against entering the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
