An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for Orange County Coastal Areas by the National Weather Service San Diego. Residents are advised to take immediate precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
The warning is in effect from 3:19 AM PDT on October 5 until 8:00 PM PDT on October 8. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to lower-90s at the beaches and mid-to-upper-90s near higher coastal terrain. Nights will remain very warm, with low temperatures between the lower and mid-70s.
To protect yourselves and others, drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. Check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable to the heat. It is critical not to leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly.
Heat-related illnesses can increase significantly during extreme heat events. Heed these warnings to ensure community safety during this period of severe heat.
