Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Orange County Coastal Areas
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for Orange County Coastal Areas by the National Weather Service, effective today until Thursday, October 8, with dangerously hot conditions and high risk of heat-related illnesses.
Orange County residents in coastal areas are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service San Diego. The warning is effective from today, October 5, at 11:29 AM PDT, and will remain in effect until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to lower 90s at the beaches. Areas near higher coastal terrain could see temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. Nights will offer little relief, with low temperatures in the lower to mid-70s, making it very warm.
The National Weather Service warns that heat-related illnesses will significantly increase during this extreme heat event. To stay safe, residents are instructed to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of direct sunlight. Please check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable to the heat.
Crucially, do not leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in mere minutes. This warning applies specifically to Orange County Coastal Areas.
