Residents in coastal Georgia and Nassau County, Florida, are advised to seek shelter indoors as a strong thunderstorm moves through the area. The National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective immediately until 9:45 PM EDT.

At 9:05 PM EDT, radar indicated a strong thunderstorm over St. Marys, tracking northeast at 20 to 25 mph. This storm is capable of producing wind gusts around 40 mph and minor flooding due to heavy rainfall. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and unsecured objects. Localized flooding is possible due to torrential rainfall.

Areas expected to be impacted include St. Marys, Kingsland, Fernandina Beach, Kings Bay Base, Yulee, Dungeness, Cumberland Island, and Harrietts Bluff. The NWS recommends that if you are outdoors, you should consider seeking shelter inside a building. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
