Winter Park residents can now hear the unique sounds of fresh produce. Chipotle Mexican Grill released an original song, “From Ground to Sound,” recorded at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios. The track features instruments crafted entirely from vegetables by the London Vegetable Orchestra.
The project connects Chipotle’s commitment to real ingredients with an auditory experience. Instruments include flutes made from corn, jalapeño trumpets, a bell pepper horn, avocado pit percussion and an onion bass. Beacon Street Studios created the composition, with creative direction from KIDS.
The five-member London Vegetable Orchestra, formed in 2010, uses vegetables as instruments. The collaboration with Chipotle involved three months of experimentation to transform vegetables into musical instruments capable of producing specific notes.
“Real food has always been at the center of Chipotle,” said Fernando Machado, chief brand officer at Chipotle, in a statement. “What made this worth pursuing was the chance to create a track that felt impossible to separate from Chipotle itself. The instruments, the sound and the story are all rooted in what we do every day.” Patrick Johns of the London Vegetable Orchestra added that each vegetable instrument is unique, requiring musicians to find the inherent sound within the ingredient.
The song “From Ground to Sound” first appeared in Chipotle's “100 Creators” ads in August. It is now available on Spotify and Apple Music. A companion film detailing the process is also accessible on YouTube.
