The incident began about 9:24 p.m. on Lakeville Road when a trooper responded to reports of a hit-and-run crash. After locating the suspect nearby, the trooper attempted to make contact. Authorities said the suspect refused to comply with the trooper's instructions.
The trooper deployed a taser multiple times in an attempt to subdue the suspect, who continued to resist arrest. The situation escalated, and the trooper discharged his weapon, striking the individual.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital. The trooper was not injured. The FDLE's investigation will determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
