St. Petersburg's Williams Park will transform into a winter destination this holiday season with the inaugural Winter Wonder event, hosted by the St. Petersburg Downtown Improvement District. The festive celebration will feature an outdoor ice skating rink and a makers market.

Winter Wonder runs Nov. 20 through Jan. 3 at 350 2nd Ave. N. The event aims to bring activity to Williams Park, one of the city’s oldest public spaces, as work on a new bandshell nears completion.

A full-size ice rink will anchor the event in front of the park's stage. For six weeks, the rink will operate alongside a makers market showcasing local businesses, food and drink vendors, live music and family-friendly activities. The market, food and beverages will be available Thursday through Sunday. The ice rink will be open seven days a week, with skating hours from 6 to 10 p.m. weekdays and 2 to 10 p.m. weekends.

Admission to Williams Park and the general Winter Wonder area is free. Ice skating requires a ticket. Adult passes cost $18. Two-for-One Tuesdays will offer $9 tickets per skater on Dec. 1, 8 and 15. A season pass is available for $65.

“Winter Wonder is an opportunity to experience Williams Park in a new way,” said Shaun Drinkard, CEO of the St. Petersburg Downtown Improvement District. “We want people to come skate, shop with local businesses, enjoy some food and drinks in the park. Over six weeks, we’ll also learn what draws people here and how to make this historic public space more active throughout the year.” Duke Energy sponsors the event.
