Westlake Certificate of Use Application Process for Businesses

Westlake business owners and operators must now complete a Certificate of Use application to establish or modify their operations within city limits. The City of Westlake's Planning and Zoning Department, located at 4001 Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, accepts these applications.
Applicants must fully complete and notarize the original application, submitting it with all necessary supporting documents and the correct fee. Fees vary: Commercial Address/Business applications cost $250; Home Occupations are $75; Changes of Owner/Business Name are $40; and Reissue Certificates are $15. Make checks payable to the City of Westlake.
Businesses must provide the Company Name, DBA (if applicable and matching signage), Business Address, and Federal Employee Identification Number (FEIN). Contact information including name, email, phone, and fax number is also required. If the mailing address differs from the business address, state it clearly.
Required supporting documents include a current City of Westlake Certificate of Use. Sub-tenants need a copy of the owner/tenant's Certificate of Use and a letter acknowledging the sub-tenant's use. An Affidavit for Virtual Office Tenancy may be necessary, along with the Business Name Registration with the State of Florida (Fictitious Name Registration, if applicable) and all relevant regulatory licenses.
Applicants must certify all information is true and accurate. False information may result in criminal prosecution. Businesses must report any subsequent changes in their status to the City of Westlake.
Once approved, the City will issue the Certificate of Use. Applicants should contact the City to confirm when their certificate is ready for pickup.
New applications can be hand-delivered or mailed to the City of Westlake Planning and Zoning Department, 4001 Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, Westlake, FL 33470. For inquiries, call (561) 530-5880.
