Information Technology Mission Statement The Information Technology Division will lead, guide, and support in the effective use of computers and information processing technology, in partnership with City Departments, to meet the overall objective of providing quality services to the Citizens of Parkland. Services Provided The Information Technology Division relies on its own internal staff, plus the assistance of external partners, to provide all computer related services for the city. These services include: Provide support for desktop equipment through help desk and on-site customer assistance Provide administration and business continuity of the City’s applications, data bases, email, and file servers Provide design and maintenance of network infrastructure to support city computer operations and information transfer Provide for the procurement, development, upgrades, and support of business software for city departments Support telephone communications for City departments Provide support and maintenance of Audio / Visual equipment for Commission and Advisory Board meetings Ensure effective technical and fiscal management of the Department's operations, resources, and contracts Ensure security and integrity of Parkland's network and data

Tourist Development Council

Section 125.0104 of Florida Statutes authorizes the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners to levy and impose a Tourist Development Tax on the exercise of the privilege of renting, leasing, or letting for consideration any living quarters or accommodations within the County boundaries, in any hotel, apartment hotel, motel, resort motel, apartment, apartment motel, roominghouse, mobile home park, recreational vehicle park, condominium, or timeshare resort for a term of six (6) months or less. On October 13, 2020, the Board repealed the Sumter County Tourist Development Tax Ordinance, effective September 30, 2020. The Board has discussed in workshops re-establishing the tourist development tax within the County boundaries. The Tourist Development Council (TDC) would need to prepare and submit to the Board a plan for tourist development setting forth anticipated net development tax revenue for 24 months following the levy of the tax; the tax district in which the enactment or renewal of the ordinance levying and imposing the tourist development tax is proposed; and a list, in the order of priority, of the proposed uses of the tax revenue by specific project or special use as the same are authorized under subsection (5). The plan shall include the approximate cost or expense allocation for each specific project or special use. CodeRED Emergency Notification Services

The City of Westlake Contracts with CodeRED to Provide Emergency Notification Services The City is excited to announce that it has implemented CodeRED, a high-speed emergency mass notification service provided by the Florida-based company OnSolve, LLC. The CodeRED system will serve as the backbone of the City’s emergency planning and communications outreach to citizens. The system sends telephone calls, text messages, emails and posts to social media channels to inform residents to better protect life and property. CodeRED was selected for its reliability and accuracy, as well as the system’s widespread adoption rates across the U.S. “CodeRED is a robust notification system that will provide City officials with a reliable, easy-to-use interface that will quickly deliver critical information to our citizens during emergencies. I was eager to bring this innovative technology to the City of Westlake; it will be a great addition to the City, adding to the developing emergency preparedness plan,” said City Clerk, Zoie Burgess. The City anticipates using the system to notify residents for public safety concerns, hazards, immediate emergencies, as well as general, yet important notifications. OnSolve has provided the City an initial database of residential and business telephone numbers; however, all residents living within City limits are encouraged to visit the following link to enroll their contact information including cell phone numbers, text and email addresses: https://www.westlakegov.com/publicsafety/page/codered-enrollment Residents also may visit the above enrollment page quickly from any mobile device by texting “Westlake” to 99411. North Sumter County Utility Dependent District (NSCUDD)

North Sumter County Utility Dependent District (NSCUDD) NSCUDD consists of a seven-member Board of Directors representing Districts 5-10 and one at large seat. The members are elected by registered voters residing in Districts 5-10. Value Adjustment Board

The Value Adjustment Board (VAB) is an independent board created by Chapter 194, Florida Statutes, to hear Property Owner’s appeals regarding property tax issues. The Board consists of: • Two (2) members of the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners • One (1) member of the Sumter County School Board • One (1) citizen member appointed by the County Commission • One (1) citizen member appointed by the School Board. The Clerk of the Circuit Court, County Court and Board of County Commissioners is the Clerk of the VAB. The VAB, as a panel, considers and renders a decision on all appeals of property assessed values, classifications and exemptions. The VAB has no jurisdiction or control over taxes or tax rates established by the Taxing Authorities. The VAB’s primary function is to hear evidence as to whether or not properties, petitioned for their consideration, are assessed at their proper value and/or whether tax exemptions or agricultural classifications should be approved. The VAB cannot change your assessed value or grant an exemption or classification based on personal hardship. The VAB appoints Special Magistrates who are qualified real estate appraisers, personal property appraisers, or attorneys to conduct hearings and make recommendations to the VAB on all petitions. WellFlorida Council Members Members shall serve for terms of 2 years and may be eligible for reappointment. Overview WellFlorida Council (formerly known as the North Central Florida Health Planning Council) exists under Florida's health planning law (Section 408.033, Florida Statutes). Local health councils are hereby established as public or private nonprofit agencies serving the counties of a district. The members of each council shall be appointed in an equitable manner by the county commissions having jurisdiction in the respective district. Each council shall be composed of a number of persons equal to 1 1/2 times the number of counties which compose the district or 12 members, whichever is greater. The Bylaws of the Lake Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization (LSMPO) state "The citizens of the area shall be involved in the transportation planning process by the establishment of a MPO Community Advisory Committee (CAC).” The Lake Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is comprised of interested community members. Therefore, this committee has a special advisory role to the LSMPO because it provides a necessary communication link between the LSMPO and the community it is serving. Thus, the input provided by the CAC insures that the LSMPO planning process is meeting the needs of the community it is serving. Members of this committee are listed on the LSMPO website here.

When a voter initiates the cancellation they must notify the elections office at their earliest convenience: Move Out of State By law, a voter can only be registered in the state that is considered to be their primary residence. They must not be registered to vote in more than one place at a time. In the event that a voter moves out of state, they must notify the elections office by completing a removal request form.
